Below is information about cement grinding mill prepared for you by AGICO CEMENT.
The cement grinding process is generally divided into three stages: raw material preparation, clinker calcination, and cement production. The entire production process can be summarized as “two grinding and one calcination.” Now, let’s introduce the main stages of the cement grinding process.
Crushing equipment
In the cement production process, the operation of reducing the particle size of crushed cement materials to 1–5 mm or above is referred to as “crushing.”
The methods of crushing mainly include:
- Compression: Placing the material between two crushing surfaces and applying pressure to break the material due to the pressure reaching its compressive strength.
- Splitting: When a wedge-shaped tool presses the material, it splits along the direction of the applied force line.
- Grinding: Material is broken by the shear force applied by the moving working surface as it rubs against the material, or by the shear force between the materials themselves.
- Impacting: Material is broken due to the impact force.
The main equipment for crushing includes jaw crushers, impact crushers, etc.
Particle Size Reduction Equipment
Particle size reduction in cement production has extensive applications. It refers to the process where solid materials overcome the cohesive forces between molecules under external forces, resulting in a transformation from larger to smaller particle sizes and an increase in the surface area of the material particles.
For particle size reduction, efficient segmented crushing principles are generally adopted. During crusher operation, the hammers or blades used for crushing are in high-speed motion, impacting or cutting the material. This process is suitable for breaking larger raw materials into coarser materials. Grinding mills operate at slower speeds. They use heavier metal components like grinding rollers to crush and squeeze smaller material pieces further, contributing to energy efficiency and improved economic benefits in the preparation system.
Cement Grinding mill
Cement grinding is a crucial step in cement manufacturing and is also one of the most energy-intensive processes. The primary function of grinding is to mill cement clinker into an appropriate particle size, creating a specific particle distribution to increase its hydration area, accelerate hydration rate, and meet the requirements for cement slurry coagulation and hardening.
There are six main methods of cement grinding:
- Stand-alone Vertical Mill Grinding System: Using a vertical mill as the primary grinding equipment to achieve the final grinding effect.
- Combined Vertical Mill-Ball Mill Powder System: Material first goes through a pre-grinding system using a vertical mill as the primary equipment before entering the ball mill for final grinding.
- Stand-alone Roller Press Grinding System: Using a roller press as the main grinding equipment to achieve the final grinding effect.
- Combined Roller Press-Ball Mill Grinding System: Similar to the second method, but using a roller press for pre-grinding before entering the ball mill for final grinding.
- Horizontal Roller Mill System: A new type of grinding equipment similar to a roller press but with higher capacity.
- Ball Mill Grinding System: The most widely used method.
The grinding process directly impacts the overall quality of cement in the cement production process and is one of the most critical influencing factors for high-quality cement production. The ball mill is a key piece of equipment for grinding after the material is crushed. Regardless of its specific type, a ball mill typically consists of five main components: feeding device, support device, rotating part, discharge device, and transmission device.
By understanding the main stages and equipment involved in the cement grinding process as outlined above, cement plants can efficiently manage and operate their production lines, ensuring overall production efficiency and quality.
