Hydrated lime, also known as calcium hydroxide, is an important inorganic chemical raw material widely used in fields such as construction, environmental protection, and chemical engineering. The equipment of the hydrated lime production line is a key facility for producing calcium hydroxide, and its process flow and equipment configuration directly affect the quality and output of the product.
We provide a one-stop solution for hydrated lime plants, including project planning, process design, equipment selection, installation, commissioning and maintenance support. Each system is configured for the customer’s feed material and capacity. Where the project starts with limestone, calcination and cooling first produce quicklime; the subsequent stages include quicklime preparation, controlled hydration, classification, storage and packaging.

hydrated lime manufacturing process
- Raw material preparation: When limestone is the starting material, it must first be crushed and calcined to produce quicklime. The hydration line shown below starts with lump quicklime, which is crushed to the required feed size.
- Controlled dosing of quicklime and water: Crushed quicklime is fed to the hydrator at a controlled rate. Water is dosed according to the feed composition and the required product quality.
- Prehydration: Quicklime first comes into contact with water. Controlling feed rate and temperature helps maintain a stable reaction and reduces unreacted particles.
- Hydration: Calcium oxide reacts with water to form calcium hydroxide: CaO + H₂O → Ca(OH)₂. The water addition is controlled to produce dry hydrated lime rather than lime slurry.
- Separation and classification: The hydrated material is separated and classified to remove coarse or unreacted particles and achieve the specified fineness.
- Finished product storage and packaging: Dry hydrated lime is conveyed to a finished-product silo and supplied in bulk or weighed and packed in bags.

Equipment configuration of hydrated lime plant
- Crusher: Reduces lump quicklime to the required size before hydration. The crusher is selected according to feed characteristics and target particle size.
- Hydrator: The main unit for the reaction between quicklime and water. Continuous or batch operation can be selected according to capacity, product quality and automation requirements.
- Impurity separator: Removes coarse particles and unhydrated residues. Its configuration depends on feed composition and hydrated-lime specifications.
- Maturation silo: Holds the material after hydration to allow the reaction to finish and stabilize before classification or storage. Capacity is based on throughput and residence time.
- Dust collector: Captures dust generated during conveying, classification and packing. Collection points and capacity are designed for the specific plant.
- Screening or classification machine: Separates hydrated lime by particle size to meet the specified product fineness. Equipment selection depends on capacity and product requirements.
- Packaging scale: Weighs and packs finished hydrated lime. The bag format and filling system are chosen according to dispatch capacity and market requirements.
