Although cyclone separators are part of multi-stage dust collection systems, they can also be used as product separators in air conveying systems, size-reduction processes, or product-recycling systems.



The cyclone system aims to increase the airflow within the factory or plant as it serves for dust recirculation. Once in use, cyclone dust collectors help reduce the dust load on other filtration systems, typically larger baghouse and cartridge dust collectors, thereby saving on maintenance and repair costs. Cyclone dust filtration systems are advantageous for facilities such as furniture and ceramics factories, woodworking shops, mining operations, agricultural facilities, and manufacturing operations involving mechanical processing, grinding, or cutting processes—all of which produce large and coarse particles. An added benefit is that cyclone separators can also remove sparks and embers from the system before the fabric filter baghouse system.
Operationally, industrial cyclone dust collectors are inertial separators, which further distinguishes the system from baghouse dust collectors. Cyclone dust collectors use centrifugal, gravitational, and/or inertial forces to separate dust from the airflow. As air is drawn into the system, rapid cyclonic motion is created in the collection chamber. This motion targets the larger and coarser particles in the airflow, discharging them into the hopper at the bottom of the system.
Pulse Jet Baghouse Dust Collectors:
On the other hand, baghouse dust collectors, also known as pulse-jet baghouse dust collectors or pulse-jet dust filters, are fabric filtration systems named for the short pulses of compressed air or “jets” used to clean the filters or bags of the dust collector. The periodic bursts and pulsing of air remove collected particles and dust from the surface of the filter media and deposit them into the hopper at the bottom of the dust collector. Pulse-jet systems can be used in conjunction with cyclone dust collectors or as standalone collection systems.


Pulse jet collection systems maximize efficiency with minimal operating costs. As dust is collected on the outside of the bag filters, it forms a dust cake, which further aids in preventing the recirculation of harmful particles. When the dust cake reaches an appropriate thickness, the pulse-jet sensors activate bursts of compressed air on the bags, releasing the agglomerated dust from the filter and depositing it into the hopper.
Pulse jet dust collector have several advantages over other systems. Primarily, pulse-jet baghouse dust collectors do not require the system to be shut down to initiate cleaning cycles, as is the case with shaker or reverse-air-type duct collectors. Particles, dust, and gases continue to be screened, passed through, and collected on tightly woven or felted fabric media. It is there that sub-micron particles are collected, forming a dust cake, and are periodically released with bursts of compressed air. Another advantage of pulse-jet baghouse dust collectors is that dirty gases continue to flow through the bags even during cleaning cycles. Lastly, there is a variety of filter elements and media to choose from, ranging from traditional fabric filter bags to spunbond pleated filter elements and synthetic hybrid filter cartridges and nanofiber cartridges.

Industrial cyclone dust collectors and pulse jet baghouse dust collectors are crucial for ensuring clean and safe working environments.
